Homemade candles are a super fun and easy DIY project to make. These DIY candles make for a great gift or for your own personal enjoyment! You can customize these candles to your liking by adding your favorite essential oils, scents and colors. Here is a step-by-step process to help you get started!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Glass Jar
- Soy Wax
- Wicks
- Essential Oils
- Food Coloring (optional)
LET'S GET STARTED!
First you will want to start off by preparing your wax. A good ratio to determine how much wax you will need is to double the amount of wax based on the size of your jar.
Add your wax to a microwave safe bowl and slowly melt your wax in 30 seconds increments, stirring often. While your wax is melting take the bottom of your candle wick and dip it into the wax. Take the wick and place it in the jar centered in the middle.
Once the wax is completely melted add 10-15 drops of your favorite essentials oils. You can add more or less depending on how strong you want the scent to be.
Lastly you will want to make sure your wicks are standing straight up before pouring the melted wax into the jars. Slowly pour the melted wax into the jar and allow the candle to sit until the wax turns solid.
Remember that these candles are totally customizable to your liking! You can add food coloring to add some color or you can even add some dried flowers into the wax for some added fun!
